Ridgeway Playgroup assists children with their early fundamental development goals. Our qualified and dedicated staff provide a happy, stimulating and enriching environment. We encourage children to learn, explore and experiment in a safe environment. We operate within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

We use activities, equipment and our children’s own interests to develop their social, emotional, physical, communication and language abilities. This gives our children the experiences to reach the early learning goals by the end of their reception year at school. Additional specific areas (literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, expressive arts and design) will also be used as and when the individual child reaches that stage of development.

At Ridgeway Playgroup, we spend up to half of most sessions throughout the year outside. In warmer weather, the children can free flow between inside and outside. We are fortunate to have a great, secure outdoor space. The children plant vegetables, play and do physical activities and games.

Throughout the year we ensure your child experiences all the areas of learning through developmental stages by careful planning. We follow themes that usually last a term and reflect the children’s interest. We provide craft and sensory activities every day and have a finger gym area to encourage fine motor skills. You’ll see a list of our latest topics of the right.
